4mm triple strand cotton (3 ply) is the perfect material for making large wall hangings, small wall hangings, feathers, plant hangers, wedding arches, curtains, mandalas—anything, really.
The most versatile and beginner friendly cotton, the beauty of triple strand twisted cotton is that has many different “looks” when used in macrame:
-leave the three strands twisted for the look of rope
-easily untwist the three strands for a differently textured appearance (curly, almost like ramen noodles)
-easily brush the cotton to achieve a smooth, creamy looking fringe. This rope does comb.
This soft cotton is made from 100% recycled materials and is beautiful to work with: soft on the hands, easy to knot, maintains structure well, and brushes into lustrous fringe.
The creation story of this recycled cotton rope is very interesting. Post-consumer textile waste is grouped into colour categories, then blended to create a uniform colour that doesn't require the application of as many dyes. This recycling and colour grouping gives the rope minuscule speckles (or freckles) that add to its beauty and hint at the ways in which waste has been repurposed, and granted new life. In some of the colours, these flecks remain visible and in some of the colours they do not.
Each roll of this gorgeous cotton cord weighs approximately 1kg (2.2lbs) and contains more than 150m (500 feet).
